It's really easy to take part. You can find step-by-step instructions in the "How To" guide.
-
Unfortunately, you will find rubbish everywhere, especially on routes and natural sights where there is a lot going on - i.e. around the so-called hot spots. Benches, shelters and rest areas in general are also "popular".
If you're looking for inspiration, why not take a look at our CleanUP Map? Many of our CleanUP kit distribution points, i.e. locals, publish route tips there. Or you can use the outdooractive tour planner or take a look at the websites of the local tourism organisations. You're sure to find a place there that appeals to you. Alternatively, simply choose your personal 'happy place' and keep it free of rubbish. -
Do you have your favourite spot and want to keep it extra clean? Perhaps it makes less sense to tidy up the same place with several teams at the same time on the same day. But if you keep visiting the same places with your eyes open, you will hopefully notice an improvement. It's certainly a great feeling.

Your CleanUp team can have up to 10 members. If you are more than 10 people, you can simply register a second team.
There is no minimum number of participants. So you can also go off on your own and do good! -
No matter whether it's a company, school, club etc., team outing or hiking day - anyone can take part!
Simply enter the team in the CleanUP Map. The CleanUp team can have up to 10 members. If you are more than 10 people, you can simply register a second team. -
In principle, anything inorganic that you think is ownerless and does not belong in nature. If you find huge amounts of rubbish or large items that you cannot transport, please make a note of the exact location (preferably GPS coordinates), take photos and report the find either to us or, even better, to the relevant local authority or nature conservation agency.
Safety first! Please always take care of your health. If you find dangerous substances (poisonous, explosives, etc.), please inform the responsible authority, municipality or even the police. -
You can easily take your collected rubbish to the drop-off stations during the CleanUP Days. You can find all the information about the stations for each CleanUP tour stop on the CleanUP Map. After the event, the waste will be collected by our local waste disposal partners, who will dispose of or recycle it accordingly.
If you set off outside the event periods, please separate the waste according to local regulations and dispose of it in the typical regional way, e.g. via the recycling centre of your municipality and the residual waste. -
Our white CleanUP Bags are made from recycled plastic and are intended for reuse. We therefore ask you not to dispose of them, but to wash them out and take them with you on your next hike. Because 'Every Day is Clean Up Day'!
If you don't want to reuse them, put them in a separate pile next to the rubbish collection point. Just make sure they don't end up in nature.
You can also keep the CleanUP tongs and keep them handy in your rucksack or jacket pocket for every hike in future. -
The CleanUP bags are made from recycled polypropylene and are designed for multiple use. In our eyes, plastic is a great and high-quality material that is often wasted in the form of single-use plastic. We are therefore not fundamentally against plastic, but rather in favour of its sensible and sustainable use, including recycling, so that a circular economy can function. Important for you: Please do not dispose of the CleanUP Bag with the rubbish, but reuse it!

You can join us at the last minute and register yourself or your team during the event. You can even register on the CleanUP Map at a later date. However, the earlier you register, the earlier other participants will see that your route is already being cleaned.
-
Even on rainy days, you can go out and clear nature of leftover rubbish, true to the motto 'There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.'
Please dress appropriately for the weather and do not put yourself in danger (storms, thunderstorms, excessive snow, flooding). Our CleanUP Days take place over several days, so you can choose the day with the best weather and set off. -
Tell them about the CleanUP Days and why you are taking part. Your own conviction is the best way to convey why you are taking part. You are sure to find open ears and, in the best case scenario, motivate the other person to take part in the CleanUP Days or simply pick up rubbish during their walk.
-
Our motto is: "Everyday is CleanUP Day!". Of course, you can also collect rubbish outside of our CleanUP events and enter your route as a "private CleanUP" on the CleanUP Map. If you only collect a few days before or after the CleanUP Days in the respective region, you can still enter the whole thing in the CleanUP Map at the tour stop. Only the drop-off stations for the collected waste are not open outside the event periods - you have to dispose of it yourself.
-
In principle, anyone can collect rubbish anywhere and at any time without having to ask us for permission. If you are not participating directly in one of the PATRON CleanUP Tour stops, simply use the permanently active 'free solo' function in the CleanUP Map. There you can enter your individual CleanUP action as a "private CleanUP" at any time, share your impact with us and thus be part of the community. However, be aware of trespassing rights and private property when collecting.
-
There are many options. Either you organise yourself, set off to clean up and enter your route as a "private CleanUP" on the CleanUP Map. If you're thinking on a larger scale, simply get in touch with us by email: cleanup@plasticfreepeaks.com. Together we will then find a concept for your idea.
Did you know that you can get actively involved in the organisation? No? Here's how you can become a PATRON and play an active role: #youarepatron. -
We will be happy to answer your question. Just write us an E-Mail. We look forward to hearing from you!
